Terms of Service

Plain-language terms. We keep these short and readable on purpose. The Rules govern how every draw runs; if these terms and the Rules ever disagree, the Rules win.

These Terms govern your use of kurdistanland.com (the "Site") and participation in any prize draw offered by Kurdistan Land Draw (the "Company", "we", "us"). By entering a draw or creating an account you accept these Terms in full.

2. How draws work

  1. Each paid entry costs US$1.00, payable in USDT (TRC-20), or IQD 1,600 when paying in phone credit on Korek.
  2. One prize per draw, and you choose the draw. Each prize we offer is its own separate draw with its own entry gate, its own pool of entries and its own winner. Every draw open for entry is listed at /prizes/. An entry buys a place in one named draw only and gives you no chance in any other. To have a chance at more than one prize you must enter each of those draws separately.
  3. Entry costs US$1.00 in every draw. A bigger prize does not cost more to enter — it has a bigger gate, so it takes longer to close.
  4. When a draw reaches its own gate, that draw's entry list is frozen and hashed, and the winning slot is derived from a public randomness beacon (drand) whose value is published independently of us and cannot be known when the entries are sealed. Each draw is decided independently; nothing about one draw affects another.
  5. The winning slot is derived from the beacon value by repeated HMAC-SHA256 with rejection sampling, so every entry is exactly equally likely (a plain remainder would very slightly favour low ticket numbers). That slot in the frozen sorted list is the winner. The full procedure is set out in clause 7 of the Draw Rules.
  6. A winner is notified by email within 48 hours of their draw and must respond and complete identity verification (KYC) within 14 days.
  7. Rollover. If a winner (a) fails to respond within 14 days, (b) declines the prize, or (c) fails KYC verification, the prize is not re-drawn within that draw and does not pass to any other entrant of it. Instead it rolls forward into the next draw offering the same kind of prize, in addition to whatever that draw already offers, and goes to that draw's single winner. An unclaimed parcel therefore makes the next land draw two parcels. If that winner also fails to claim, the same rule applies again — a prize can carry forward indefinitely until it is claimed.
  8. Odds. Odds are per draw. With N confirmed entries in a draw, a given entry in it has a 1 in N chance of winning that draw's prize, and no chance in any other draw. N can never exceed the draw's gate, which is fixed the moment that draw opens for entry. Final odds per draw are published at /transparency when that draw's gate closes.

3. The prizes

Each draw offers exactly one prize. Every draw open for entry — its prize, specification and gate — is published at /prizes/ and is frozen when that draw opens. The land draw awards a real land parcel located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG), held by the Promoter until the winner's identity is verified and the land is transferred. Clauses 3.1 and 3.2 below concern that land prize; clause 3.3 covers the prizes in every other draw.

No cash alternative. No prize may be exchanged for cash, credit, or any cash-equivalent instrument, in whole or in part, and no cash valuation is offered in place of a prize. Any value figure shown on the Site is an indicative retail estimate for information only and does not create a right to that sum. This does not limit clause 3.2, under which the Company may assist a winner in disposing of a land parcel it is not legally possible to register in their name.

The winner receives a contract according to the land type; registration in the winner's name is governed exclusively by the land-registration rules of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and applicable Iraqi law. The winner must satisfy every requirement set by the KRG land registry — including identity verification, tax settlement, and any residency, nationality, or foreign-ownership conditions that apply to the winner and to the specific parcel. The Company begins the registration process within 90 days of the draw; the total time to completion is set by the registry, not by the Company.

3.1 Relative-nominee provision. Where a winner's current residency, nationality, or immigration status does not permit direct registration of the parcel in the winner's own name under KRG or Iraqi law, the winner may nominate one relative living in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq — parent, sibling, adult child, or spouse — to hold the registration on the winner's behalf. The nomination must be made in writing, signed by the winner, and submitted with proof of the family relationship acceptable to the KRG registry. The winner remains the beneficial owner of the parcel; the nominee holds the registration as trustee. The Company facilitates but does not adjudicate the nominee arrangement, which is a private matter between the winner, the nominee, and the registry.

3.2 Alternative disposition. If neither direct registration nor a compliant relative-nominee registration is possible, the Company will work with the winner on a compliant alternative (such as sale of the parcel and remittance of net proceeds), but is not obliged to guarantee any particular outcome or timeline. The winner is responsible for local registration fees, applicable taxes, and any costs associated with travel or access. The Company will cover the initial land-transfer filing fees.

3.3 Prizes in the other draws. Each is fulfilled according to the type published for it at /prizes/:

Documentation for each prize parcel is published on our transparency page as it is filed. Nothing is claimed as filed before it appears there.

Your entries are tied to the phone number (and email, if given) you entered with. Website sign-in uses passwordless email magic links. You are responsible for keeping access to your email and phone secure. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle data.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company's total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Site or any draw is limited to the amount you paid for the entries in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Any dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you rights in your home jurisdiction.

9. Restricted jurisdictions

Entries from residents of the following jurisdictions are not accepted at this time:

We geo-gate access where we can detect location. It is your responsibility to ensure participation is legal where you reside.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced via email to registered accounts and on the Site at least 14 days before taking effect. Terms in force at the time of each entry govern that entry.
